I find the concept interesting, given that most of us probably assume Google already tracks and harvests a lot, and therefore what more would they need to harvest for which they'd need to first actually provide compensation? The low payment almost comes across as a token amount, a bare minimum to say that some sort of consideration payment did indeed happen, like in weird contract arrangements where things are agreed to "...in exchange for $1."
