True enough, but we are approaching a time when it’s just a way to justify a money grab.Pixel binning changes the game entirely. Without zoom, it will likely only create 12.5 MP pictures, but will collect the light from all of the adjacent pixels.
This also makes zoomed shots very crisp.

And these cameras are now as good as some low-end DSLRs. Well worth it.
