Data breaches/security hacks

Life Labs is probably the biggest medical testing business in this country.

Their databases got hacked, mega million $ settlement pending. Imagine your test results being open to anyone willing to spend the money and buy them from the data thief. It's damned creepy. Is anything safe on the internet?

Haven't found anything about how the invasion was worked.

A clue here.

"TransUnion confirmed that the personal information of 37,000 Canadians was compromised after one of its business customer’s login credentials was fraudulently used to access data.

"The unauthorized access was not the result of a breach or failure of TransUnion's systems or our customer's system," a company spokesperson said at the time."

Wrong link but nobody's looking.

Which is BS imo. A business partner's login misuse shouldn't allow such a level of penetration; 37,000 clients (and counting).

More, more...

"information included names, addresses, emails, date of birth, national health card numbers from 2016, and earlier. Customer login IDs and passwords appear to have also been exfiltrated in the breach"

Glad I skipped my medical that year

"The class action itself includes about 8.6 million people, KPMG says, including about 132,000 people whose confidential test requisitions or results were stolen."

132,000! Starting to appear serious.

The Saskatchewan privacy commissioners report, that Life Labs tried to suppress..

You want to stop this garbage, fine the company it happens too, let’s say 25 grand to each customer…….it would stop real fast.
