While I think this is great, I remember quite a few releases like this then nothing. Time will tell. Three years in a companies life is a very long production cycle.

Hmm... I think Mr Kessler needs to reconsider some parts of what he wrote.

"Infotainment doesn't lean as much into Sony's strengths, in my opinion. Sony has always made excellent hardware, but I've rarely been impressed by the software running on it"

I guess the PlayStation doesn't count then?

It is a realistic timeframe, considering that even Sony and Honda combined do not currently posses all of the manufacturing ecosystem and expertise necessary to start production of the Afeela tomorrow...Sony knows a thing or two about electronics. But neither are experts at autonomous driving systems, electric cars, or massive-scale battery cell production.

This is conjecture at best. Unless someone works for Sony Honda Mobility, how could one make a statement like this? Sony and Honda may already have the full design but need three years to build the assembly line. Or work with technical partners who'll make the parts. Or they may be looking for real estate space for this product line. There could be hundreds of logistical reasons, none of them having to do with "expertise". Even if Derek got this explanation from the Honda reps at CES directly, show jockeys are typically the least informed or knowledgeable about what's happening in Engineering. Companies don't waste their engineers by sending them to trade shows.

Honda has been making EV's for years. But I do agree that Honda used to be the "European automaker of the East" but has been in decline for a while now. And consequently, I'm with Chuck and STCo that "we'll believe it when we see it". Honda has not built something iconic in years. The last one was probably the Legend in 1985. Besides that, it's been "me too" coupes, pickups and ATV's for a while now.

Are bringing facts in again? Shocking

Yeah it use to be that maybe one in five products from CES ever made it to actual production.

But have to say that BMW’s iX Flow concep concept car was much cooler than a story that maybe Sony and Honda will release a car in a few years...
